To (almost) Everyone's Immense Relief....

I've started a Picture Blog. No one has to go to it, no one has to comment on it. You may, but you don't have to. It's called Around and About, and I've got a link to it over there on the right. The only pictures that will appear on Edgewise will be illustrations. You can relax. Everything will be back to normal in no time.

Joe,
I just don't want anyone to feel obliged to give me compliments. But thanks all the same.

Okay, blow my mind and show me that a word I've been using for 49 years has a different meaning than I thought... I thought it meant "very". I looked it up and instead it means "reasonably", "fairly", "rather", "moderately" - not what I meant to convey at all. So please scratch my ignorant comment and put this in its place: Grand, striking, astonishing, stunning, marvelous, dramatic, remarkable, dazzling, - get the picture? You crack me up :-D

Terry,
There IS a way to use quite which you probably picked up. For instance,

"My dear, you look quite beautiful"

with the right intonation, means very beautiful. I think it is the equivalent of "simply".
I will happily hear it that way when it comes from you.
