The Rain Got Held Up In Customs
It's beastly hot and dry,
I'm thirsty,
And I've got no time.
Thus the silence.
Thus the distraction.
Thus the pathetic
Attempt at
Refreshing poetry.
Doesn't even rhyme.
I'm thirsty,
And I've got no time.
Thus the silence.
Thus the distraction.
Thus the pathetic
Attempt at
Refreshing poetry.
Doesn't even rhyme.

Better sunshine than ravenous deer to decimate the garden, eh? It's always something :-)
Sorry it's so hot - could use the sunshine today as here it is cloudy and trying to rain. Grrr, what happened to summer?
It went on vacation to Sweden, it would seem.
A good side-effect of having dogs is not having deer.
Steve,
It's just that we're leaving for a week, and I'm worried about the garden drying too much. All those poor little plant babies scorched till a crisp- their cries will haunt me as we tread the beaches of Gotland.
But yet it's always great to see you post, Jeanne.
If there's one thing I've learned, it's 'don't sweat the plants'. They're more resilient than you think.
Joe,
Maybe if I sweat ON the plants it would help.
I'll pray for rain during your absence. I know my garden will be a wreck when I return after 16 days of being abroad. I do have a daughter to watch the house, but she hates anything that resembles work... especially dinking around in the garden. sigh.
Doesn't even rhyme.
Ho ho!
Clever!
oooh, I hope you don't mind puns, 'cause I feel one coming on ...
True Story: my rockery is full of thyme, which self-seeds, smells nice, and tastes good. Added benefit: well, plant some and you'll always be able to know you have lots of "thyme", -- and a rhyme!
egads, Jeanne, forgive me, it's an annoying family trait, like tics
Aren't vacations wonderful! Hope yours was great!
UTMG,
I suppose I could be that clever, but I wasn't. I wish I had been.
sidhe,
I was weaned from homonyms to puns. My best friend's name was Heidi, and my father never tired of saying, "Hi, Dee!". So pun on. I am quite immune.
Kathy,
I liked the "air not breathed by friends and aquaintances", or however it was you put it. Mine was full of fresh air. Thanks.
Terry,
I know you're not around to read this, but my garden had the audacity to thrive in my absence.
You are too modest.
Steve,
Of course not. But I WOULD like to feel I can take some credit for the results of my gardening.
You reminded me of a joke:
A farmer was working in a field that he hadn't used for years. He was standing admiring the results of a great deal of labour when the local priest came by. "Looks good," he said. "It shows what you can accomplish with hard work and the Good Lord's help."
"Well," said the farmer,"I don't know about that. You should have seen what it looked like when only the Good Lord was taking care of it."
UTMG,
OK. I can be that clever, but I wasn't.
I have a pumpkin growing in my garden. That is all I could see last night when I got home. I'll see tomorrow if the deer left anything else.
Terry,
A Halloween pumpkin? Mine are only as big as acorns so far, but I'm optimistic. I hope you found some more survivors.
